Back in the Booth-Only Bigger and Better
Well, it has been quite some time since I’ve posted anything here, but rather than plow into all the reasons and wherefores, I’m going to jump right into the positives. If you’ve been following my Instagram, you know I’ve been a #vagabondvo artist for a few months now as I’ve navigated some personal transitions. I’m so pleased and grateful to be able to have finally moved into not only my new home but my new studio. I debated for a while about building the whole studio from scratch or getting a Whisper Room to install. If we’d had more space, I think we’d have built the studio ourselves, but knowing space was limited (and also dealing with half a dozen other DIY move-in projects) I thought we’d get the best sound more quickly by getting the booth. That being decided, I’m excited to be able to offer my clients both better sound and a more stable schedule–well, I suppose we all have a more stable schedule right now. I’m so thankful for those of you who have weathered the past few months with me and I look forward to continuing and strengthening our working relationship as I move forward with my voice over career.
Here are a few pictures of the process.
- The pallet arrives with 12 boxes, weighing . . . uh, a LOT.
- The boxes camped out in our bedroom for a while. Notice the “nook” behind them between the closet and the wall. Putting the booth there was the original plan . . .
- . . . but Andrew decided I didn’t need to worry about having to work in my bedroom, so he had the nook “moved” from the bedroom to the office in the room next door.
- Ready for some DIY baby!
- The new nook after putting down the Whisper Room floor.
- Andrew should be in this picture–he did as much work as I did.
- Toby did no work, but he was close by the whole time, often too close for comfort. I didn’t take pictures of the incident where he jumped up on one of the wall pieces that wasn’t attached and went flying.
- Getting excited as we near completion.
- Toby not wanting to give up that last wall.
- From the doorway of the office.
- All finished!
- The aftermath.
- Ready to go!
